Food Technology Students Explore World Cuisine

On Wednesday the 25th  February, Food Technology students visited Jimmy’s O2 self-serve buffet for an exciting and educational trip. Upon entering the restaurant, students were impressed by the scale of the venue and the elaborate artwork.  They were equally captivated by the wide variety of international dishes available, including cuisines from China, Mexico and Italy.

The trip aimed to help prepare students for their GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition three – course meal assessment. Experiencing such a diverse range of foods gave students valuable insight into different ingredients, flavours and cooking styles , many of them which were new to them.

Using their personal workbooks, students recorded their observations while seeing, tasting and exploring different foods available. This helped them reflect on flavours, presentation and ingredients, as they begin to consider their own meal choices for the assessment.

The day proved to be a great success. As one student commented “I never knew there were so many different foods and they all taste great.” The visit was both enjoyable and informative, giving students a memorable experience while supporting their learning.
