Enrichment
In addition to following the National Curriculum at RAP, we have a comprehensive Enrichment Programme to enhance students’ learning opportunities and help pupils develop emotionally and socially. This programme allows students to develop their inter-personal skills and self-image, improve social skills, and build friendships. The Enrichment Programme is an opportunity for students’ learning experiences to be extended into the community and expose them to experiences they would not have ordinarily outside of school.
Box Up Gym – KS3
Box Up Gym provides a highly structured and disciplined environment where routines, focus and self-control are central. For students at RAP, many of whom have identified SEMH needs linked to impulsivity, emotional regulation or difficulty managing boundaries, the predictable structure of each session provides stability and clarity. Clear expectations and repetition support students to regulate emotions, manage frustration and respond positively to challenge, skills that directly support reintegration into mainstream education.
Climbing – KS3 and KS4
Climbing activities challenge students to assess risk, plan routes and persevere through difficulty. Students learn to manage fear, accept support and reflect on progress. Overcoming physical and mental challenges reinforces a growth mindset and builds confidence, supporting positive attitudes to learning and resilience in mainstream classrooms.
Cycling – KS3 and KS4
Cycling sessions develop co-ordination, independence and responsibility through structured physical activity. Students follow safety guidance, manage equipment and remain aware of others, reinforcing accountability and focus. These behaviours support students in developing routines and self-management skills that transfer directly to school life.
Exploration and Ecology – KS3
Exploration and Ecology activities encourage curiosity, responsibility and environmental awareness through practical learning. Students work collaboratively and engage in observation and reflection, supporting confidence, engagement and respect for shared spaces.
Ezra Studios (music and creative projects) – KS3 and KS4
Ezra Studios offers students a creative outlet through music production and expressive projects. Sessions promote focus, collaboration and self-expression while allowing students to experience success in a non-traditional learning environment. Creative engagement supports emotional wellbeing and helps students re-engage with learning in ways that feel purposeful and achievable.
Forest Country Park and Farm – KS3
Nature walks at Forest Country Park and Farm provide calm, structured opportunities for reflection and emotional regulation. Alongside guided walks, students take part in activities such as strawberry picking and fishing, which offer hands-on, low-pressure experiences that support anxiety reduction, self-awareness and patience. These activities help students develop focus, emotional balance and confidence, contributing positively to their readiness to engage with classroom learning.
Future Ready (Technology, Creativity and Wellbeing Programme) – KS4
The Future Ready programme supports students to develop confidence, self-awareness and practical skills through a balance of creative and wellbeing-focused activities. The programme provides structured opportunities for students to re-engage with learning in ways that feel accessible and purposeful.
Creative elements, including pottery workshops, offer calm, hands-on experiences that support focus, emotional regulation and self-expression. Working at an individual pace helps reduce anxiety, while producing a finished piece builds pride and a sense of achievement.
By linking creativity with wellbeing and routine, Future Ready supports students in developing resilience and positive habits that strengthen readiness to re-engage with mainstream education.
Gym – KS4
Gym sessions provide students at RAP with structured opportunities to build healthy routines, set personal goals and support both physical and mental wellbeing. For students with SEMH needs, developing consistent routines and understanding the link between physical activity, mood and focus supports emotional regulation and resilience. These habits help students establish positive behaviours that improve engagement and readiness to return to mainstream education.
Gymnastics – KS3
Gymnastics sessions focus on co-ordination, strength and controlled movement while reinforcing discipline and focus. Studentds follow structured routines and refine techniques over time, promoting patience and self-regulation. These skills support improved engagement and behaviour in structured learning environments.
Ice skating – KS3 and KS4
Ice skating places students in an unfamiliar setting that requires patience, balance and perseverance. Students are supported to manage frustration, accept guidance and persist through challenge. Developing confidence in unfamiliar environments and learning to cope with setbacks supports resilience and adaptability, which are essential for sustained engagement when returning to mainstream settings.
Lambourne End Outdoor Centre – KS3 and KS4
Visits to Lambourne End provide students with practical outdoor challenges that promote teamwork, communication and independence. For students at RAP, these experiences offer structured opportunities to practise cooperation, follow instructions and trust others in a safe environment. Successfully completing activities builds confidence and self-belief, supporting students to engage more positively with group learning and social expectations in mainstream schools.
Roller Skating – KS3
Roller Skating encourages perseverance, confidence and gradual skill development. Students are supported to manage initial difficulty and recognise progress over time. These experiences reinforce resilience and willingness to engage with unfamiliar learning experiences, supporting confidence on return to mainstream education.
Tennis & Padel – KS4
Tennis and Padel sessions promote teamwork, communication and respect through structured sport. Students learn to follow rules, manage competition and cooperate with peers. These sessions support positive social interaction and emotional control, reinforcing behaviours expected in mainstream school settings.
