About Year 11 Provision
The Year 11 Provision at Redbridge Alternative Provision supports students who join the UK education system during Year 11, often with very limited time to prepare for post-16 pathways. Many of our learners have experienced disrupted education, low English proficiency, or limited prior schooling, and some arrive as unaccompanied minors. Our provision offers immediate support to ensure rapid academic progress, safety, and successful transition.
Our aim is to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that enables students to make rapid academic progress and secure a meaningful post-16 pathway.
Our Approach
We deliver an immersive curriculum that supports both academic development and personal growth. All planning and teaching take account of English as an Additional Language (EAL), with a focus on functional English and mathematics as foundations for future study and employment.
We provide:
- Responsive referrals and admissions
- Tailored academic programmes matched to assessed ability
- Targeted EAL and literacy support, including phonics where required
- Pastoral and safeguarding support, particularly for vulnerable learners
- Careers education and transition planning for post-16 destinations
The Year 11 Provision has a structured and compassionate route into education for newly arrived young people. By combining personalised support, targeted academic pathways and strong pastoral care, we enable students to succeed in Year 11 and transition confidently into further education.
