900 Commendations Reward – Recognising Positive Choices at RAP

At Redbridge Alternative Provision, clear expectations and consistent recognition are at the heart of how we support students to succeed. Our behaviour policy is built around non-negotiables that set clear boundaries, alongside a commendation and rewards system that celebrates positive choices and progress.

Recently, one student reached an important milestone: 900 commendations awarded. While this is a great achievement, it also reflects something bigger the impact of a consistent approach that encourages students to make positive decisions every day.

Our non-negotiables ensure students understand what is expected of them in school. By applying these expectations consistently, we create a safe, structured environment where everyone can learn and feel supported.Alongside this structure, students earn commendations through their daily progress cards and by demonstrating RAP’s core values, including respect, resilience, determination and aspiration. These commendations build over time and can be exchanged in the Reward Shop, encouraging students to sustain positive behaviour and effort.

In a PRU/Alternative Provision setting, recognising progress is essential. For many students, success comes from rebuilding routines, confidence and positive habits. The 900 commendation milestone shows how clear expectations combined with meaningful recognition can motivate students and support long-term change.

Every commendation represents a positive choice and together they highlight the continued progress of our students at RAP!
