Taking a student to the boxing gym isn’t just about teaching punches or footwork. It’s about opening a door to discipline, confidence, and possibility.
The moment we walked in, the sound of gloves hitting pads filled the air. At first, the student looked around with quiet curiosity, unsure of what to expect. But once the gloves were on and the rhythm of the pads began, something shifted. Each combination wasn’t just an exercise, it was a spark of focus, determination, and self-belief.
Between rounds, we stepped into the weights area: deadlifts, bench presses, and dumbbell work, all part of building the strength behind the technique. It was a reminder that boxing isn’t only about fighting, but about preparing the mind and body to work together.
What made the day even more special was sharing the space with professional boxer Anthony Yarde. For the student, seeing someone from a similar background who had risen to the highest levels of the sport was a powerful message: your environment does not define your future.
