Despite the drizzle, spirits were high as we set off from the Year 11 Provision, equipped with jackets, umbrellas, and plenty of good cheer. Smiles were everywhere as the adventure began!
The day started with a light drizzle, but it did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of our pupils. The journey to the pier via the Underground went smoothly, and for several pupils, this was their very first trip into the heart of London, a truly exciting milestone.
Upon arriving at North Greenwich, our pupils were captivated by the impressive sight of the Dome and the surrounding architecture. The towering structures and striking designs were a thrill in themselves, sparking awe and curiosity among our young explorers.
As we embarked on our river cruise, the rain began to intensify. Yet, undeterred, many pupils eagerly gathered at the back of the boat to experience the sights firsthand, even with the option of warm, comfortable seating indoors. Their excitement was palpable as they soaked in the views, while our staff enriched the experience by sharing fascinating facts and stories about the landmarks along the way. This enthusiasm carried through the entire two-hour cruise.
The return journey to the Underground was another wet adventure, with heavy rain accompanying us. Still, nothing could extinguish the joy and excitement radiating from our pupils. Their resilience and positivity were truly inspiring.
One pupil said: ‘I enjoyed the day a lot because I got to see the monuments and buildings that I’ve always wanted to see, including Big Ben and The Tower Bridge.’
Another pupil commented: ‘Exploring London was one of my dreams which came true yesterday with the best people around me to guide and support me through the day.’
